Tea Route
The route is an amazing "cultural and gastronomic journey" that takes place in three stages and three different locations. It traces the life of traditional and colonial Mauritius.

Domaine des Aubineaux.
Located in Forest Side, near Curepipe, this colonial mansion was built in 1872.
Completely restored, this house was designed primarily in ebony. Enjoy her bedroom with furniture and French style rosewood armchairs and can also admire its mahogany furniture in the dining room.
Cross also superb hallway filled with family photos and remember to take a ride in his magnificent veranda window
Stroll in the Garden finally camphor where plane trees, eucalyptus, fig ... you wait and end up tasting a little in his tea.

Then, drive to the tea factory of Bois-Cheri.
Just Blois between Grand and Grand Basin lies the famous agricultural region of Bois-Cheri. This is where planted and produced the famous tea of Mauritius, known internationally.
You begin your visit by the Factory where you can attend different manufacturing processes (harvest the leaves, drying ...). Then go take a quick tour of the museum's Tea, where you trace its history.
Finally, stop at the Chalet for sumptuous cookies and a delicious cup of tea. A real treat.

Finish your visit at the Domaine de Saint-Aubin.
At the other end of South Island, near Rivière-des-Eels, here is the Domaine de Saint-Aubin. This splendid 19th century building, welcomes you in making a small break in its Talons Vanilliers and Anthuriums. You'll find beautiful colors (orange, white, dark red ...).
After that, go to the Maison du Rhum tasting for a small and do not forget to finish by the Maison de la Vanille.

If you wish, you can finally stop for lunch at the Table d'Hote Le Saint-Aubin. With the menu, delicious food (Chicken Creole or Vanilla Fruit Sorbet, Mousse Coconut ...).

Vanilla Crocodile Park
Near the village of Rivière-des-Eels is the Vanilla Crocodile Park, informally known as La Vanille Reserve Mascarene.

This park was once a vanilla plantation, which was converted in 1984 into a park by a crocodile breeding Australian zoologist, Owen Griffiths and his wife Mauritius. The first crocodile, a male and four females, were imported from Madagascar and the park now has more species of animals like wild boars, monkeys, deer, giant tortoises, bats and even skinks of Round Island. To the delight of visitors who love nature, trails through tropical vegetation and dotted with palm trees in places of small streams. They are drawn to enable the discovery of this wildlife. For the less adventurous, a showroom includes specimens from the Mascarene reptiles, as the true chameleon green and one of the largest species of lizard. A small shop sells accessories such as belts, wallets or handbags made from crocodile leather.

Stroll through tropical greenery to the surface where exotic plants, palm trees, giant bamboo, banana trees, freshwater ponds and of course the thousands of crocodiles that are different sizes. Babies a few inches up to 6 meters long. Very impressive, when you get close.

As to your visit, you will also encounter bats, deer, iguanas, eels, frogs, mongooses ... A true small zoo.
Do not miss its giant tortoises released and you can cuddle. Over 300 Aldabra tortoises from Seychelles in their enclosure.

Discover another great pleasure, that the Insectarium where exposed insects and butterflies, one of the finest collections in the world that will amaze you with its colors and 20 000 species.

For the bravest and most interjoists hungry, come eat at his restaurant and enjoy the main course: "The Crocodile".
